Walleye Anglers Trail Bellevue Report April 22

JD Knight and I began practice for the Walleye Anglers Trail event outside Bellevue on Thursday afternoon, April 19th. We fished the traditional spots on Pool 13 and caught four including a big 22 inch male! Friday found us working down river and south of Sabula. We found one nice, plump female walleye for our efforts. On Saturday, we trailered down to Clinton to fish various wing dams and up by the dam…NO fish! Tournament day we checked a couple jigging spots then moved downriver to the “spawning” grounds. We fished the 7-14 foot contours and had eight bites with five in the boat to take a picture, release, then record their length. All our fish came on double Rapala setups. We learned later the bigger males were in the 20 foot depth. JD and I finished 9th out of 26 boats and fourth for big fish! We head to Prairie du Chien in early June for our next event.
