A few days have gone by now since the pros and co-anglers gathered in Davenport, IA, for the National Guard FLW Walleye Tournament learned their event would be the last walleye tournament sponsored by the FLW organization. At the same time, we le

arned from Ranger Boats they were taking over the tournament and would be utilizing Cabela’s and Evinrude as major sponsors for the 2013 series. We were referred to a new website, www.nationalwalleyetour.com, for more information. Bottom line is there will an opportunity for a full field of 125 boats

with the first place payout a combination of a Ranger Boat and cash. Ranger is announcing in today’s news release this will be the “richest” payout in walleye tournament fishing for 2013. We’ve been waiting to hear from the A.I.M. walleye tournament series for their announcement about next year’s schedule. I’m confident the early January meeting of the

NPAA in Minneapolis will see the tournament schedule, sponsors, payouts, and media opportunities further outlined. What do the majority of pros think? So far, the pros who’ve fished the FLW seem willing to fish the NWT even with the higher entry fees. Co-anglers need to chime in, too, because they play a big part in each tournament’s success.
