We have safe ice (10 inches) again after a weekend of 50 degrees plus temperatures. So today, we headed out to Lake Whitewood which is just South of the village of Lake Preston. We had ok luck out on the ice, keeping 11 perch ranging from just about 10 inches to almost 13 inches. Bite was slow. All came on our dead sticks (bobbers) using minnows for bait, except the small perch. That was caught jigging wax worms on Lindy’s perch rig.
Yes we had a bonus fish. It is the first time I have seen a carp caught during ice fishing. I would tell you who caught it, but I think she won’t want me mention her name.
Lake Whitewood is about 5 miles due East of Schaefer slough and Lake Thompson.
