With water temperatures rising throughout the state the shallow bite has been heating up. Yesterday the surface temp on the lake that I was fishing topped out at 61 degrees. You sure could tell, as everyone that we encountered was catching fish. The name of the game for shore fisherman was the standard issue bobber and a minnow. Many of the fish that we watched being caught were quite short and would never end up in my live well/bucket. While we caught some crappie with this technique, the larger fish were caught trolling ¼ ounce jigs with 2inch twister tails. Sorry gang, forgot the camera so no pictures this time.
