Red Wing Fishing and Flooding

I drove up to Red Wing Friday after work to get our camper reset after it was moved in early May due to high water. Co-worker Roger Abel drove up Friday with friend Kyle Ledger and they caught a bunch of smaller fish that afternoon. I went out with them Saturday and we caught some nice ones above the head of the Lake trolling small baits in 8-10 feet of water. We moved down to Lake Pepin and fished the clam beds on the Wisconsin side along with the area along the south shoreline looking for Saugers–we found some and checked out a couple more spots on our way back to Colvil Park in the blazing hot sun. We had a burger at King’s in Miesville and called it a day. Kyle and Roger got out early Sunday morning and got their limits as the thunderstorms with heavy rain moved through. I learned my camper has to be moved to higher ground along with the Lund Explorer I brought up Friday because of anticipated flooding of the campground after Tuesday. So, my day was spent moving the boat and prepping the camper after washing all the bugs and cobwebs off the exterior. I’ll finish the trailer prep in the morning and head home to CR. I’m thankful I got to fish with Roger and Kyle Saturday and get a few pics of Kyle to post along with this story. Wish us luck with the flooding!!
