Went fishing with my buddy Lenny. Left the house at 4:30am to get on the lake for first light. Started off a bit slow, but put together a few patterns and caught 30 fish before our trolling motor rope broke and we called it quits for the day around noon. Plus it was blue skies and 93, so I was looking for some shade. Biggest fish below was just under 4 lbs. Several in the 2.5 range, a few around 3.0 and several 1.5’s. Caught them on Pop’r, cranks, wacky worms and our trusted good ole friend, Mr. Drop Shot.
To top off the day, my sister came in town for a visit with her two kids, so the four of us hit the links (since her son is down here to attend a U of A golf clinic). I have played one 9-hole round in 3 years, so I was feeling a bit weary. First hole, narrow par 4, smoked a killer drive right down the fairway, was left with a 70 yard wedge, which I tucked in there like Scottie Lehman taught me and 2 putted for par. Hole 2, feeling the vibe (and a little breeze behind my back, picked up the driver again and ripped a screamer down the gut of the fairway and thanks to a good charity role, was left with a little 25 yards to the pin! Chipped up and tapped in for a BIRDIE. #3 was a Par 3. I rimmed the hole on my first putt and tapped in for just another par. Now I am thinking, “man, I am pretty good at this deal”. Well, about then, the fatigue and golf gods combined to put a jinx on me and the wheels started falling off a bit. I bogied the next 4 holes, finished with a kick and ended up +3 on 9 holes just in time for the rain storm.
What an incredibly blessed day. Not
to mentioned that yesterday, the Gators took care of business with something like 5-6 HR’s and punched their ticket to the CWS. Go Gators!!
Life is good!
