Marco Island Fishing with Guide John Campbell!

Friend Dale Moore and I joined guide John Campbell for a fun day on the water south of Marco Island, Florida, on the last day of February. John took on his fishing “route” of spots where we caught ocean trout, snook, pompano, sheepshead, and even the don’t touch dangerous ocean catfish! We caught enough to treat Cheryl and Sue to a fresh fish dinner! We went about 18 miles south looking behind floats marking crab cages for the popular triple tail–saw only one but were unable to fish it. We used saltwater St. Croix rods and pitched pink/white jigs tipped with a piece of fresh shrimp to catch most of our fish. We also used a jig covered with a blue/white paddle tail plastic to catch our snook which all were released. John has fished here for over 16 years and became a permanent Florida resident a couple years ago. Following retirement, he now guides in Florida along with guiding on the Great Lakes in northwestern Iowa during summer for walleye and panfish. There’s still time to fish Florida with him this season! His cell number is 239-860-0976. Thank you, John, for a fun day on the “open” water!!
