Last year while fishing at Lake Erie we met some fellow anglers doing the bait shop visits during a “blow day”. Karl Dollhopf is from the Upper Peninsula and he shared a report with Walleye Wisdom with pictures of their catch: Lake Erie Report October 10-14. “Day 1-nice weather light wind. We fished out of Huron and went 14 miles to second dumping grounds. We caught two 25″ twins right away on Bandits 50 +2oz+35= 85 total. Switched to harnesses after wind died down and limited out catching 10 more smaller fish. Day 2-more wind. We fished north of Kelly’s Island, landed two nice walleyes, trolled down the east side, nothing but commercial nets. Day 3-back to Huron. Started trolling 1 mile south of dumping grounds, good marks, water temp 62 degrees, 40 feet of water. Fishing Bandits and Flicker Minnows we grinded out 14 nice walleye. Day 4-Probably 25-30mph SW wind. We went about 10 miles and marked fish, and picked up 6 keepers. It was a good trip but probably a transition time for the walleyes, most of the locals were fishing perch off of Marblehead light house or Huron lighthouse.” Karl was joined by good friend Brian Botruff and Brian’s daughter, Jammie Botruff. Thank you, Karl, for your report and the great pictures! Both the Walleye Slam and Fall Brawl tournaments started October 15th at Lake Erie and continue through the weekend after Thanksgiving. Spike
