Scott Angove of Golden Eagle Resort in Ear Falls, Ontario was nice enough to call and let me know what the current fishing report was from beautiful Lac Seul!
Water temperatures are currently in between 56 to 58 degrees depending upon the water depth. Healthy males are in shallower water chasing minnows and black head chubs. Boats have been experimenting with crawler harnesses but few have had any luck. Leeches are working sporadically. A few larger females measuring 30 to 31 inches have been caught up
in the sanctuary as well as some 40+ inch northern pike!
Water levels are lower than normal for this time of year so if you’re portaging above the English River dam in camps like Timberlane, Evergreen, Goose Bay, etc. then expect shallower conditions.
The weather on Lac Seul has been pleasant with temperatures at night ranging in the upper 50’s and temps during the day in the 70’s. Rain showers have been occasional so, as always, be sure to pack appropriate rain gear.
The Walleye Wisdom team will be headed up to Lac Seul next week so stay tuned for our daily updates including videos, pictures and tales of adventure. Our Canada trip is a cherished tradition and we look forward to sharing it with you!
