Reader Josh Hanson submits a picture of a beautiful ten pound plus walleye he caught on the Iowa River below the Coralville Reservoir spillway. Here’s his story:
My 10lb 6oz walleye was 27 1/2″ long caught at 3:00am Saturday morning February 19th. This fish was caught on a 4″ ringworm made by B Fish N Tackle. I was swimming a chartreuse sparkle/white core ringworm when she bit. The fish was caught on the Iowa River below the Coralville Reservoir. The best part about this fish was that it was caught with three of my closest friends being witness to the beast. My fish did come in 2nd that night for size. My friend Travis caught an 11lb 1oz fish the same night! That fish was taken on a 6″ sucker minnow tipped on a jighead.
Hope to see you on the water!
Thanks for the story and great pic, Josh. And also thanks for practicing catch and release by putting this walleye back into the water!
