Amy’s boyfriend, John Berry, and I enjoyed fishing this past Monday with Marco Island Guide, John Campbell. This was JB’s first time fishing gulf coastal waters. We started our day pitching jigs with shrimp right behind some sand dunes as the tide was moving out. JB had a nice one on which came off at the boat (sound familiar?!) while I caught two Pompano keepers. We explored another area JC wanted to fish but found other boats there so we moved out to the floats above crab traps looking for Tripletails. JC spotted one so moved up slowly to it trying to get it to bite a larger shrimp hooked on a small hook. No bites so we continued to check other floats. JC then moved into some backwater areas looking for Snook, Redfish, and Trout. We pitched jigs under the tree limbs and to deeper holes. We caught lots of different fish (Shark, Ladyfish, Sheepshead) and finished our day with JC by landing two keeper Trout. Once we got home, JC cleaned our fish while JB and I hosed down his new Ranger boat and our fishing rods getting rid of the corrosive salt water. We had a great day on the water with JC! Please message me for his contact info to go fishing when you’re here in SW Florida! A more complete report will come on www.walleyewisdom.com after we return home to Iowa!
