While Gary is away this weekend fishing the FLW tournament on Lake Oahe I thought that I’d give our friend Scott Angove at Golden Eagle Resort a call up at Ear
Falls, Ontario to get a late season fishing report. Scott says that the fishing has been terrific this year but added one caveat: the walleyes on Lac Seul are not interested in aggressive presentations this season. To catch a limit of fish one must stick to slower methods like vertical jigging with a quarter ounce jig head tipped with either a leach and a minnow while working over traditional fish holding locations like rocky points or humps. Don’t be afraid to anchor up and really pick a spot apart, either. Scott says that the big fish don’t want to travel far this year on account of what he judges as a good forage base so it might be time to start polishing up on those slip-bobbering skills! Weather has been uncharacteristically mild with temperatures in the daytime ranging between 75-80 degrees with temps at night in the 50’s.
If you have any other questions don’t be afraid to call Scott or Alma at 1-866-384-0117.
