Tracy Hayward from Robins, IA, submitted this picture from his cell phone of a huge, 50+ pound grass carp caught last Wednesday, August 18th, at Pleasant Creek Lake near Palo, IA. “I was fishing by myself and casting a #7 Glass Shad Rap over a break line along the west shoreline across from the north shore boat landing when I feld the tug,” Tracy reported. “The fish felt like a walleye at first but then I realized it was something different. It took me 45 minutes to get the fish up to the side of the boat where I could get it’s head in my net and pull into the boat. It took my scale to the maximum of 50 pounds so I really don’t know how much it weighted. An angler in another boat was kind enough to come over and get this photo of the fish on my cell phone,” Tracy continued. He reported he spent about 15 minutes reviving the hugh carp before putting it back in the lake. Thankyou, Tracy, for sharing your catch with walleye wisdom watchers! Spike
