It’s over! The 2018 Cabela’s National Walleye Tour had an exciting conclusion at the Championship event September 5-7 at Lake of the Woods our of Baudette, MN! By now, you’ve all read how Max Wilson became the youngest pro to win a Championship event in the NWT’s history! Please use our link from walleyewisdom.com to check out the stories and both the pro and co angler results. The Championship featured 71 pro boats and 71 co anglers who had qualified for the event by fishing the three qualifying events during 2018–Lake Winnebago in May, Saginaw Bay in June, and Devil’s Lake in July. The full field fished the first two days with the Top 10 pros and Top 10 cos fishing on the third day. It was a pleasure fishing with Jason P. and Kevin M. my two days and help them make the cut to the Top 10!! Both Terry Hora from Iowa City, IA and Dave Nichols from Cedar Rapids, IA made the cut with Terry receiving his award for Co-Angler of the Year based on the NWT point system! My combined weight allowed me to finish in 17th place–good enough to cash a check–and add to the two checks received so far this year! During the tournament season, I was able to help practice fish for two of the events with our team of Chris B., Steve M., Tyler K., and Victor W. For the Championship, I spend four days with Tyler catching them! Thank you to our teammates and all the Pros I fished with during the season. Good Lord willing, I’ll be back in 2019 ready to fish at Red Wing, Marinette, Sault Ste Marie, and Devil’s Lake! Hope you enjoy the pics from practice days and the Championship day! And, again, congratulations to everyone who fished the 2018 season! Spike
