This event is for a great cause however I don’t know that we would participate again. My 13 yr old daughter arrived when gates opened both days but was seriously disappointed on Saturday when it was learned that she and my father spent 4 hours, through THE RAIN, fishing in a part of the lake the DNR did NOT stock because of low oxygen levels, but no one knew apparently? Golf carts of Fish-O-Rama staff drove by SO MANY TIMES….I specifically asked the men at the checkpoint if the backwaters were stocked and they told me YES. It wasn’t about prizes, it was about fishing. She only wanted to catch a fish. I was disappointed that an event of this size could have a communication problem of this magnitude. Better luck next year.

Racquel, I’m sorry to hear that your family didn’t catch any fish in the back pond. Unfortunately, the circumstances surrounding the stocking of that area changed with the low oxygen level readings at the time we were stocking the tagged fish. There was confusion over whether the back pond received “tagged” catfish for prizes before Saturday. It did not. It did however get stocked with untagged catfish and was stocked with tagged and untagged bullheads on Sunday morning prior to the start of fishing. The issue was that people fishing the back pond did not have an equal opportunity to catch tagged fish on Saturday. The confusion about the tagged fish versus untagged fish stocking was our problem and we have apologized and will continue to do so. Please come back and give us a chance next year. It is truly a great community and family event. If you are having difficulties catching fish, come to the prize area and we can hook you up with one of our staffers that will help you find a location to improve your odds. Tight Lines, Dave
