New Iowa perch record.

GUTTENBERG, Iowa – A new state record for yellow perch was caught March 7, in Pool 11 of the Mississippi River. Angler Bob Ruff, of Garnavillo, caught the 2 pound, 6 ounces, 15 inch perch while ice fishing with his daughter. The weight was recorded at the Guttenberg Fish Management Station and verified on a certified scale.

    What a great pick of Bob and his daughter! And for her to be there just having fun with Dad and being part of a State record catch? This is one perch she’ll keep in her memory bank for a long, long time. Congratulations, Bob, on your catch…but most of all, thanks for taking your daughter with you! Spike
