Chicagoan Tames Another Walleye!

Foxee Jig to the Rescue!

Chicago native, Dave Zapf, showed us how to jig for Lac Seul walleye using the finesse approach with a small foxee jig…see if you can find some and locate the walleyes in 7-14 feet of water just off the wind blown points and you’ll be cookin’ up  a shore lunch before you know it!  Way to go, Dave!  Gary Speicher, NPAA #128

I can see his finger holding up the dorsal fin! Gary taught us the secret trick: you have to rub them on the forehead.

Dave recently took a trip to the Virgin Islands. I wonder if he was dreaming of big eye’s. Dave is a great friend, and I always enjoy getting the chance to fish with him. Thanks for all the great memories, with many more to come.

Thanks for your reply, Chris! Yes, Dave has been a great friend and I hope the two of you get more time together on the water this season. You need to get a few more hours on the Spectrum! Maybe Dave can tell you his “secret” in why he throws those “monster” musky lures from the back of the boat while the rest of us are slip-bobbering for walleye?! And, every now and then he’s surprised us with a big catch!! Dad
